Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Long Island City, NY
Ask Your Long Island City Dentist
For dental patients, questions lead to uncertainty, and uncertainty leads to anxiety. We do our best to curb any nerves by always taking the time to answer questions so our patients have all the knowledge they need to feel comfortable and calm in the chair. You’ll find our responses to common questions below, and be sure to reach out if there is anything else you’d like to ask.
Are you currently accepting new patients?
Yes! LIC Dental Associates at Court Square / Queens Plaza is currently accepting new patients of all ages, including children, teens, adults, and seniors. Basically, if someone can smile, we’re ready to give them a great experience and world-class care.
How often should I visit the dentist?
While this answer will be different for each person depending on their situation, on average, someone should visit the dentist at least twice a year for a checkup and cleaning. This allows our team to proactively prevent the most common dental issues, like cavities and gum disease, while also spotting preexisting problems early. This way, we can take care of them before they cause you any real trouble.
Should I be worried about my bleeding gums?
If your gums typically bleed while brushing or flossing, you might be cleaning your teeth too hard. Try to lighten up for a few days, and if the bleeding continues, be sure to give us a call. In this case, you likely have a minor infection that is causing inflammation, but we can treat it right away to prevent major problems down the line.
How often do I need to floss?
Ideally, just once a day right before you go to bed. If you don’t floss right now, it’s OK to gradually work it into your oral hygiene routine. Start by flossing once or twice a week, then a few more days, and before you know it, you’ll be doing it each night without even thinking twice.
Will you accept my dental insurance?
LIC Dental Associates at Court Square / Queens Plaza is able to accept many popular PPO dental insurance plans, so the answer is likely yes! To make sure and get an estimate of your coverage at your next appointment, just give us a call, and we’ll be happy to go over your plan with you and let you know how to best use your benefits with us.
I don’t have insurance. What else can I do to save on my dental care?
With our dental office, you don’t need insurance to have access to affordable care. You can sign up for our LIC Dental Perks Program, which offers similar savings to traditional insurance, but for a lower price. Or, you can opt to get low-to-no interest financing to space out paying for procedures. To learn more about these options, be sure to visit our “New Patients” page.
